Proprietary technology · Research and evaluation
Research freely within scope. License operational use.
Study, evaluate and help shape the work. Ownership and commercialization rights remain reserved.
The Foundation's technology is proprietary. The Sovereignty Foundation owns and stewards the underlying IP. Logos IP Licensing LLC (LIL) holds the licensing and commercialization authority granted by the Foundation and issues grants to operating companies such as Pulse Mesh and other authorized operators. A company receives only the rights its grant expressly provides.
Current working license: Sovereignty Foundation Research License 1.0 · Download the controlling text.
This page summarizes the program. The full versioned license controls, and applies only to releases or commits expressly identified under it. Publishing these terms does not relicense every repository or the entire technology portfolio.
Choose the permission your use needs
| Activity | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Research, teaching, security analysis and internal commercial evaluation | No registration, fee or individually negotiated permission under SFRL 1.0; follow its conditions. |
| Private commercial test pilot with customers or business partners, without operational reliance | Registration confirmation covering the entities, versions, scope and dates before the pilot begins. |
| Live operational pilot, production, sale or other commercialization | An express written Supplementary Grant from LIL before use. Registration alone is insufficient. |
An isolated deployment can be an evaluation. A canary, failover, customer service or operational decision made using the Software is operational use, even when described as a free beta or small pilot. Shadow tests on live data must satisfy the License's separation and no-reliance conditions.
Register a commercial test pilot
Email org@sovfound.org with your legal entity and authorized contact, software versions, evaluation purpose, participating organizations, environment and proposed start/end dates. Identify SFRL 1.0 and confirm each participant's acceptance and that outputs will not be operationally relied upon. Send no personal test data, credentials or confidential invention detail in the initial inquiry.
LIL must issue a written confirmation before pilot use starts. Sending an email is not confirmation. The qualifying registration process carries no fee under this license. Scope, participant, version or date changes need updated confirmation.
Request an operational-pilot or early commercial grant
Email org@sovfound.org with the legal entity, proposed live activities, software versions, systems, users/customers and dates. LIL will need to agree the covered copyright and patent permissions, operational limits, term, any fees, oversight and safe wind-down. No operational permission arises from an inquiry, negotiations, registration or payment alone.
An early license does not have to wait for a finalized standard or reference implementation. It provides agreed rights for a defined use while the technology develops.
Share findings. Preserve the IP boundaries.
Publish truthful findings and criticism without prior approval. Your independent results remain yours. Keep modifications private or share qualifying forks under the License's copyright, source and provenance conditions. Upstream acceptance requires a separately executed Contributor Grant; merely evaluating or maintaining a fork does not.
No IP ownership, general patent portfolio license, third-party patent clearance, branding right or certification is granted. Preserve notices and identify forks accurately. Vulnerability reporting is voluntary.
A working license that can evolve
Working groups and contributors inform future standards, reference implementations and terms. This current page will identify the latest working version; each issued version remains archived. A repository's identified license does not silently change when this page changes.
Participation does not itself grant commercialization rights or make the technology open source. Any eventual open-standard specification, implementer patent commitment, certification program or open-source implementation needs a separate express release. The Foundation retains its release-policy authority.
